Crooked Thumb Brewery opened to the public in October 2015. Founders Kip Kelly and Travis Kruger undertook a creative restoration of a warehouse built in 1963 that was previously an auto body and paint shop. The 6,000 square foot space is located just two blocks off Main St. in Safety Harbor, FL. The brewery houses a 15 barrel brew system with an offering of 10-15 beers on tap in the tasting room. Beer is distributed to the local market in kegs and special bottle releases. Future plans include addition of a canning system.
Crooked Thumb’s tasting room is a comfortable, laid-back space to sample beers and gather with friends. Much of the building’s original character remains. Local salvaged materials were used in the renovation giving it a rustic chic industrial style. The bar and seating area feature views of the production area as well as the adjacent beer garden. With a canopy of trees overhead, the garden is a space with live music, yard games and seasonal events. Local Safety Harbor food vendors serve a selection of foods on weekends.
The brewery’s creation has truly been a labor of love with it’s founders pouring their heart, soul and sweat into the project. Their passion and hard work are evident in the unique and inviting space and delicious beers.
